Shower Pan Leak can cause Major Damage! Redondo Beach, CA

Differing your Home Repairs can Cost you Big Bucks in the Future!

This bathroom remodeling project in Redondo Beach, CA is a perfect example of why it is important to stay on top of home repairs. See my foot pushing down on the damaged subfloor. The wood has soften and sinks below the level of the floor. The shower pan had been leaking for years without repair. Water from the shower will seeped into the wood beneath and begin a distructive cycle. The moisture fostered fungi to grow.

A sure way to tell that the showerpan has failed is water leaking below the shower and water spots around the base of the shower curb.

This is by far the most extreme example of water damage caused by a failed showerpan. Below is what we uncovered when we removed the shower tile. Man this was a freak-show!

As a result of the fungi growth we had to replace this 24 foot beam. It took 4 guys about 8 hours to get this 200lb beam in. It was a beast. What you don't see is all the shoring up that we had to do inside the structure to keep the integrity of the structure in place. It was a very challenging project. But we made it happen.

Here is what the shower and bathroom looked like at completion of the project. You can check out more of our projects by viewing the gallery page and YouTube Channel. We want to know what you think, send us an like on Facebook!
