Written by Lydia Solis | Jul 9 2012

Bathroom cabinetries are known as vanities. People don’t make as big a deal about it as the kitchen cabinets but they are very important. Bathroom vanities are all about functionality. It’s important to plan enough storage for everyone who will be using the bathroom and be careful the doors/ draws do not interfere with the bathroom door.

Planning for efficient storage early on during the bathroom remodel process will be what keeps your bathroom looking elegant and neat.

Even though storage is a priority, it’s important to consider the size of your bathroom and make sure you have sufficient space for your vanity.

In addition to cabinet doors, don’t rule out convenient storage drawers or swing out hampers.

Just like kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities come in a prefabricated or custom form. For more info one which is a better choice for you, check out our blog on pre-fabricated vs. custom cabinets.

There are a variety of styles to choose from. Like clean cut and modern to traditional wood designs. For a modern look, you can opt for “frameless” also known as European-Style because it’s cleaned lined. For a conventional look, select a framed cabinetry. Depending on the door style, it will either make your vanity look traditional or contemporary.

It is extremely important to have proper ventilation and have a waterproof finish on your vanities to protect them from moisture, should you choose to use wood.

Medicine cabinets mounted above the sink are an easy option but for a sleek look, opt for a frameless one that is the same width as the vanity. Or choose for an arched top mirror that will compliment the rounded shape of your bathroom fixtures.
