Kitchen Remodel- Hermosa Beach, CA

Written by Lydia Solis | Jun 29 2011

This Kitchen remodel in Hermosa Beach presented some design challenges. The floor plan was so bad that the homeowner called it a “2 butt kitchen” because only 2 people fit in the kitchen at any given time.

Well, we moved out a wall and opened the kitchen to the dining room. This was the key component in optimizing the space. The back wall housed the refrigerator and also became home to a full sized pantry. I added a fruit ripening basket to that wall. This is a very cool feature. This basket is used to ripen fruit, avocados or any other produce that is picked green but is best eaten when ripe. The bottom right corner also housed an impressive piece of hardware commonly known as a “magic corner.” This hardware allows for the storage in baskets that glide on tracks and tuck away in the corner. The dark stone on the countertop is absolute black granite.

We saved the homeowner a lot of money by using pre-fabricate stones. The floors are a green high quality porcelain tile. This kitchen was completed over the summer and was done from start to finish in about 8 weeks.
