Are you bored with travertine in showers? I am...it seems that over the last 5 years travertine has been the dominate tile installed in bathrooms. I know we have installed our share of travertine tile in bathrooms. A new wave of materials have hit the market and it is time to get with the new!
You won't find me installing the glass tile made so popular at Home Depot. There are issues with installing large glass tile in the shower. Glass is very brittle and has a tendency to show the tile backing. Sometimes water seeps in behind the tile and you can see it....Not a good thing!
My bathroom tile idea for this Hermosa Beach, CA bathroom, is Limestone! Limstone is a natural stone that comes in various sizes and colors. I presented 3 themes to my customer. She choose the one that I was hoping for...the limestone option! This job is in Hermosa Beach, CA.... a "tall and skinny" beach house. The Limestone I selected for my clients has tons of fossils imbedded in the stone. The fossils add unique beauty and exclusivity to the tile job. I selected 2 sizes, 6" squares and 12" tiles with a glazed decco tile. We also made a custom niche for her bath products out of the countertop material. My client selected an oil rubbed bronze faucet which brings the earth tones of the tile, cabinet wood and paint together. I will be posting some progression pictures in our video galary so be on the look out.
