The exterior of a house receives the most abuse. Abuse from elements and little critters. Knowing what to look for can save you thousands on home improvement costs. Look for chipped wood! Wood that shows chipping must be painted ASAP. It is much cheaper to paint the wood than to have to pay someone to replace the board. The north side of a house always gets the most sun. So the paint is more likely to fade and bake off. Look out for garden sprinklers! They take their toll on metal and wood fences. Ask your gardener to aim the sprinklers away from the fence. Water from sprinklers can cause you to spend thousands of dollars in water damage to your fencing. By making these small repairs, it will save you big bucks in repair costs! After a strong rainfall, the drywall and insulation material in your attic may have become saturated with moisture. If your attic space does not have good ventilation it is likely that the insulation will remain moist. To reduce the likely hood of mold growth, it will be necessary to remove the wet insulation and run a fan in the attic to dry any moist surface.

The average bathroom requires one gallon of paint for the walls and one quart of paint for the ceiling. Painting the vanity cabinet and replacing the hardware can extend the life of that vanity. Take a trip to Target/Walmart and get a new shower curtain. New flooring tiles give the impression of a full remodel. Replace the towel holders to give your bathroom that finishing touch.
