The good news is that there is hope! Installing PSL beams across the rooms eliminates the need for support walls and allows an open floor plan. PSL beams are manufacture pieces of plywood and they are engineered to carry massive weight. When we attach the ceiling framing to these beams…well voilà you have new open spaces and you can fit a few more butts in that "former 2 butt kitchen" (take note some butts are bigger than others… lol)! This project was a good example of a cool beach house, kitchen remodel in Playa Del Rey, CA. It was a tiny space that sported an apartment size stove.
